Geiger Counters detect and measure radioactivity. There are three forms of energy associated with radioactivity; alpha, beta and gamma radiation. The classifications were originally determined according to the penetrating power of the radiation. All of our Geiger Counter can detect the three types of radiation; alpha, beta and gamma radiation and are sensitive enough to detect and measure background radiation. Our digital geiger counters, provide both a high accuracy count (CPS/CPM) and equivalent radiation level on the LCD display. U.S. government NRC Regulation 10-CFR-34 and 10-CFR-35 certifications are available. Analog Meter Geiger Counters
Images SI Inc's Analog Meter Geiger Counters are useful for detecting and measuring radioactivity and performing nuclear experiments.
Applications include classroom demonstrations and experiments, emergency services and domestic preparedness, HAZMAT and compliance verification, dirty bomb screening and EMT's. Analog meter range is 0 to 20 mR/hr. These geiger counters also have secondary indicators; an audio click and LED blink each time a radioactive particle is detected.
The CGA-03 and GCK-03W Geiger Counters have the following features:

These Geiger Counters primary indicators are an audio click and an LED blink each time a radioactive particle is detected. The Model GCK-02 has an internal Geiger-Mueller tube. The model GCK-01 (not shown) has an external wand that houses a Geiger-Mueller tube (GMT-01) and provides a easy to use probe for checking radioactivity.

External Power Jack
While the geiger counter is on (powered), the PC board contains exposed high voltage components. Even when the cicuit is turned off (power is removed) the capacitors still may hold a high voltage charge.
A project box or enclosure is recommended.
Alpha Particle Spark Detector
Images SI Inc's Alpha Particle Spark Detector.
This detector utilizes thin negatively-charged wires that are strung through the air above a planaranode. When strongly ionizing radiation like alpha particles pass through the area between the wires and the anode sparking occurs.
Note: this is only sensitive to Alpha (α) particle radiation. Beta (β) and Gamma (γ) radiation will not trigger a spark.
