Geiger Counters and Accessories

This page lists our basic geiger counters. Highly accurate digital adapters are available that increase the sensitivity and usefullness of these Geiger Counters, such as digital meter adapter and RS-232 adapter. see Geiger Counter Accessory links below.

Model GCK-02

Analog Geiger Counters are useful for detecting radioactivity and performing nuclear experiments. The models GCK-01 and GCK-02 are offered as kits as well , see Geiger Counter Kits link listed above. These Geiger Counters primary indicators are an audio click and an LED blink each time a radioactive particle is detected.

These models are compatible for the Digital Meter adapter, RS-232 Adapter and Random Number Generator Adapter.

The Model GCK-02 has an internal Geiger-Mueller tube. The model GCK-01 has an external wand that houses Geiger-Mueller tube (GMT-01) and provides a easy to use probe for checking radioactivity. The GM Tube is a Ne + Halogen filled, with a .38” effective diameter 1.5-2.0 mg/cm2 mica end window.

  • Detects alpha above 3.0 MeV.
  • Detects beta above 50 KeV.
  • Detects gamma above 7 KeV.

The CGK-01A and GCK-02A Geiger Counters have the following features:

Headphone / Analog Meter Jack

Digital Output -- Provides a TTL logic pulse each time a radioactive particle is detected. Used to connected to various digital adapters:

Digital Meter Adapter -- Turns our analog into a accurate digital geiger counter

RS-232 PC Adapter (with free Windows Radiation Monitoring Software)

Random Number Generator - Generate real random numbers for experiments

External Power Jack
Case Size 5.6" x 3.2" x 1.5" .PDF Drawing (50K)

GCK-01A- $319.95
Geiger Counter -- External Wand

GCK-02A - $267.95
Geiger Counter -- Internal GM Tube

Radiation Shields for Wands

Radiation Shields for Wands

These radiation shields friction fit on the open end of the Geiger Counter wand. Each shield helps to block radiation from reaching the internal GM tube inside the wand.

The shields are useful in performing nuclear tests and experiments.

The Screen shield is an open mesh nylon screen that allows all radiation including alpha to pass through. The paper shield blocks alpha radiation, while permitting beta and gamma radiation. The aluminum shield attenuates beta radiation and the lead shield attenuates gamma radiation. Shields may be purchased separately or in a set.
