Radioactive rock samples may contain one or more several other minerals such as:
Tyuyamunite (green/yellow)
Uraninite (Black, Crystalline)
Pitchblende (Black)
Carnotite (Green/Yellow, Lemon-Yellow)
Uranophane (Bright Yellow) and Gummite (Orange-Brown)
Each specimen is measured with GCA-07W Digital Geiger Counter that has passed NRC's ANSI-STD N323A certification. Activity of alpha, beta and gamma in Counts Per Minute (CPM) is provided along with measurement certification. Rock samples typically have one area that is more radioactive than rest of specimen. Measurement of radioactivity is taken from the most radioactive portion of the sample. CPM is total radiation read from sample.
Please keep in mind the radioactive rock is a high alpha source emitter. If the Geiger counter used to measure the rock sample cannot detect alpha radiation, the CPM count that Geiger counter reads will be significantly lower than the count provided on the label and certificate.

While direct contact with this mineral is not hazardous, we recommend caution if this sample is crushed or ground into a powder. One should not breathe in or inhale any powdered material or dust from the sample. Do not eat or drink while handling the material to prevent ingesting any powdered material or dust from the sample.
Take common sense precaution when touching and handling this mineral sample. Wash your hands after touching or holding the mineral before eating or handling food.
